In May 2010 INTEX OSAKA will mark the 25th anniversary of its opening, in Osaka Nanko Cosmosquare District, as one of the largest fair and exhibition centers in Japan.
Since then, INTEX OSAKA has hosted 2,379 events, including fairs and exhibitions, and has accommodated about 91 million visitors, thereby playing important roles in revitalizing the Kansai region’s economy and helping Kansai-based companies globalize their business activities, while providing opportunities for visitors to learn about new innovations and technologies. This is all thanks to the tremendous support and cooperation of relevant agencies and organizations, exhibition and fair organizers, exhibitors and visitors.
Although the overall world economy is still in a serious situation, it seems to have hit bottom and is showing signs of picking up, predominantly in Asia. In the Kansai region some export industries are recovering, but personal consumption remains sluggish, with domestic demand still weak. Companies are now realizing more fully than ever before the severity of the economic depression due to declines in corporate profit as a result of deflation.
Against such a backdrop, the hosting of exhibitions and fairs, and the globalization of corporate activities, are essential to revitalizing the Kansai region’s economy and the Osaka International Business Promotion Center must play even greater roles in this connection.
The main events held at INTEX OSAKA from April 2009 to March 2010 include The International Festival UTAGE 2009 in Osaka (a once-in-four-years event), Welfare Career Fair 2009 in Osaka, Financial Planner Certification Examination (the first business certification exam held at INTEX OSAKA), Monster Hunter Festa ‘09 Osaka (a promotional event for a popular software game), Recruit Kaimaku ★ Live Osaka (a career fair, which reflected the severity of the so-called employment “ice age”), 2010 Entrance Examination for Hyogo College of Medicine (the first college examination held at INTEX OSAKA) and Bridal Industry Fair.
Meanwhile the International Division, another important pillar of IBPC, has actively promoted its service following the establishment of two centers seven years ago: the IBPC Osaka Network Center and the IBPC Osaka Investment Promotion Center. The IBPC Osaka Network Center is involved in the continuing projects of the World Trade Center and Business Partner City. This center also supplies consulting services on trade and investment, and overseas economic information by various means such as seminars regarding China and other Asian countries, in order to help small and midsize businesses in Osaka advance overseas and thereby contribute to the globalization of Osaka’s economy. In fiscal 2007, this Center also began promoting economic exchange through its overseas representative offices. The IBPC Osaka Investment Promotion Center encourages investment in Osaka by domestic and foreign enterprises, in addition to offering support to such investors, in cooperation with Osaka City and Prefectural governments, the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Kansai Economic Federation and other related business organizations.
We will continue developing the activities of INTEX Osaka and the International Division, and contributing to the revitalization and strengthening of Osaka’s economy by supporting business expansion overseas and industrial partnership.
Finally, we would like to express our deep appreciation for the support we have received in the past, and our hope for further assistance and cooperation in the future.
July 2010
